How often when you were younger and busy making crayon creations did you wish your drawings would come to life? Such an idea is now a bit closer to reality - thanks to 3D-printing technology. One of the gadgets this technology brings along is a 3D printing pen, the 3Doodler. As it draws, it extrudes heated plastic, which quickly cools and solidifies into a strong lasting structure.
But first, what exactly is a 3D printing pen?
A 3D printing pen is like a small handheld 3D printer. Like all 3D printing devices, it works by heating a plastic filament to its melting point and forcing it through an extruder tip - this is very similar to how a hot glue gun works. The melted plastic can then be worked into any shape you like, guiding it with your own hand. A 3D printing pen allows you to effectively draw with plastic. You can use this to add decorative details to a variety of surfaces, also you can make 3D wire models. With practice, you can even create 3D drawings in empty space.
Me, I have always been interested in art since I was a little girl because my elder brother is very gifted in drawing, so we used to spend every available minute in drawing, painting and creating something new. I remember wishing for his incredible drawings to come true because they seemed so real and I didn't want them to be stuck on paper forever. Who would have thought that those visions back then are becoming reality someday? Seriously, it is a childhood dream coming true!
